Chiangmai Trip - Day 1, Part 1 [Arrival and Hotel Check in]

Sunday, November 17, 2013

Hello peeps, it's been quite some time since I ever update it. So recently I went to Chiangmai. 4D3N and all thanks to Tigerair. I won a pair of air tickets, excluding charges via this contest. Totally awesome, as I totally save the airfare! And it was my first time winning air tickets! Also, not forgetting those friends that helped me to like the post for the days before deadline. Not for you guys, I guess I won't be able to travel free.
Thank you very much, my dear friends!! ^^
This was the group photo we took with Tigerair before boarding.
Upon arrival at Chiangmai's International Airport, YES! You didn't see wrongly, from airport to Town/City area only cost 120Baht for a normal car. & 200Baht for a bigger car. Actually basically there's only a taxi stand in the airport, so do not be worry for being ''tok(cheated)'', as I understand from the view as a visitor to a unfamiliar country.
& basically this is how their arrival hall looks like. At another end of the stretch is for International and Domestic Departure.
This was roughly how a normal taxi for 4 seaters looks like.  Be prepared they will start to 'know more about you'', in a way asking "where are you from?","How many days are you in Chiangmai","What are you intending to do here?" and so you will know their taxi have full of brochures showing the various attractions, and now you understand why they ask. Be surprised, they can speak pretty fluent English as compared to some in Bangkok, Thailand.
Thinking that we do not have to pay for air tickets, therefore we go for a better hotel stay since it was all our first time there so somehow particular where we will be staying for the 4D3N. Here it our choice - Dusit D2. You can read up reviews at trip advisors and it was actually a 4.5 stars hotel.

Please pardon me as I forget to take a photo on the outside of the hotel, because I was astonished by this welcome drink offered by the Hotel. It seems simple right, but just to let you know the cup was wobbly meaning it does not somehow stay stills. And most importantly, it tasted so nice. It tasted a bit like dragonfruit? or Soursop? It was a bit of sweet and sour there. *Thumbs up*

This was their deluxe room - with two singles. Doesn't this makes you feel at home? So warmly colored at least, make you feel more peaceful right! Spotted those orange thing on the bed, actually it was a fortune cookie. They will give you fortune cookie daily upon housekeeping. Service was so good right ~ On the left side of the pic, there's a long sofa for us to rest too. What do you think? I'm totally satisfied with it, for sure!
Another view of the room, with the TV and small corner for drinks

Now not forgetting another area that we will look at - Toilet/Bathroom...

Time for dinner and some shopping time, off we go ....
Before that, some photos of the lobby and bar area of the hotel.

Location of the Hotel - Super convenient as there are many 7-Elevens store around you and restaurants too. So do not worry if you are hungry in the middle of the night too! With many massage parlours around it too and mostly only close like 1am (Singapore time).
Basically we are so near to every night markets. Definitely an advantage to those who loves shopping!!

Shall continue more on my Chiangmai Trip soon... Keep a lookout on it! Thank you.
